Today, Criterion will finally be releasing a Director-Approved Double-Disc Special Edition of Wes Anderson’s first feature film Bottle Rocket. The new release will include restored resolution, 5.1 soundtrack, commentary by Anderson, deleted scenes, “making of” documentary, and original artwork by Ian Dingman.
For those of you who are only familiar with Andersen’s later films, give Bottle Rocket a shot. This low budget effort proves that underneath all the eccentric sets, expensive art direction, and high end actors, Wes Anderson can really tell a story like few others. You’ll also get a sneak peak at the Wilson brothers when they were collage buddies, not superstars.
