An Online Guide to Typography For Lawyers

Matthew Butterick, typographer-turned-lawyer, has developed a great little site explaining in an incredibly straight forward manor why type is important to people working in the legal system. It seems a little crazy at first, but two pages into his excellent brief, I was sold. Lawyers need to learn about good type.

Typography for Lawyers is pretty cool on a few levels. What I’m most interested in though, is the unconventional layout. When a type guy takes the perspective of a legal guy, you get something brilliant that no art student could come up with on their own. I’ve rarely been to a site that balances navigation, readability and layout so well. In a copycat online design world, this really is an original idea.
